I’ve been mulling over this car since I originally took an FRS for a test drive about a month ago. I decided to give it a chance instead of just listening to the bad reviews about it lacking power amongst other things. The main thing that prevented me from heavily considering one was that it wasn’t within my budget. But now that they are sliding downhill and into that range it’s weighing heavy on my mind. I was considering a Mustang at first but I would only want a 5.0 which is nowhere near my $15k(Max) budget. I’ve seen some low mileage FT86s already at that price point so by February, when I hope to be ready to buy, they’ll possibly be lower. This interests me.

So tell me the good and bad about your car.

Do you plan on keeping it long term?

I need to know so I know if this is a good way to go. Also if I do go with this car I already found the FI kit I plan to go with. Jackson Racing Supercharger.

Either FRS’ are way lower than BRZ’s, or prices in my area are just absurd. The cheapest BRZ’s I’ve found have been $20k, and those are 60 or 70k miles.

Like for every 8(I think that was the deal)FRS sold, there is one BRZ sold. So they are rarer and more desirable apparently.

I’m definitely keeping my car long term as it’s such a great daily driver, it really comes alive in the corners, great fun, so many different options out there for modding to keep it fresh

Ah.

For me, it’s just that I really do not like the styling of the FRS.

FRS are cheaper because they made more of them. From my understanding it was part of the deal between the manufacturers that Toyota would make more by a significant margin.

Thanks. I really liked it but can’t force myself into something new right now. Also I’d want money left over for modifications so these used ones are quite appealing. It was such a thrill to drive that I need more of it in my life.

If you could add more power to it, would you?

Even still, cheapest I found was a 2013 with 30k miles for $18k. I think there’s definitely some regional price difference going on.

For $15k it is one hell of a car. Don’t listen to the naysayers, the car is very enjoyable with the power on tap.

maybe in a couple years I might go s/c but want to have fun being n/a for awhile and I got mine used so was cheaper and gave me some room for mods

Try a Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8

Hmmm I shall see. I’ll need to experience the car long term then. Besides I’ll borrow the old mans Vette if I need a fix of power.
